FOUNDER FELLOWSHIP
NEW YORK 2023

What’s happening:

Chloe Capital is hosting a four-month accelerator for tech founders of seed+ stage companies from underrepresented and historically marginalized backgrounds. Chloe Capital was one of five organizations selected by the NYCEDC to launch an accelerator aimed at expanding the Founder Fellowship, a program dedicated to supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs building tech and tech-enabled businesses across New York City. View the 20 companies from New York City that Chloe Capital has accepted to participate below.

Who we’re looking for:

Chloe Capital’s Founder Fellowship will only accept applicants located in New York City with founders from an underrepresented class. We are specifically seeking companies building tech products and services in Climate, Education, and Health. Applicants should be Seed or Series A stage and ready for investment. Finally, we are looking for companies that have traction and momentum and are ready to scale.

What we’re offering:

What makes our program unique, first and foremost, is direct access to capital. Our program includes funding opportunities, peer-to-peer and expert mentoring and coaching, investor connections, networking, and educational programming delivered through virtual and in-person sessions. All participants will receive lifetime access to Chloe Capital’s national resource database and our custom growth kit with dozens of discounted services.

Information Session:

On Wednesday, November 30th, NYCEDC hosted an information session to provide more details and answer questions about the 2023 Venture Access NYC Founder Fellowship. TIMELINE

February

Accelerator Begins. The accelerator will launch with a cohort founder kick-off meeting, during which we will review the timeline of events, expectations, and opportunities. We will send out a pre-program survey to all founders, and host a roundtable to discuss ideas, experiences, and share the unique challenges faced by participants. During the kickoff month, founders will work virtually with team members from Chloe Capital to create individualized work plans and receive access to Chloe’s resource database.

March

Throughout the month of March, Chloe Capital will continue to meet with founders virtually for mentoring, as well as a 1-day host in-person workshops and networking events with partners from the technology and innovation vertices. Founders will learn how to apply for additional funding opportunities like SBIR and STTR programs. We’ll connect founders with strategic and corporate partners who can help them demo or pilot their products, develop case studies, and receive invaluable feedback.

April

Founders will get a chance to pitch investors during a live in-person event. Beforehand, Chloe Capital will connect founders with near-peer mentors to focus on developing or refining their pitches. During the event, each founder will be afforded the opportunity to fast-pitch their company, followed by a feedback session for each team, and networking between founders and investors.

May

During our final month, Chloe Capital will host an in-person showcase to increase founders’ access and visibility to funders and strategic partners. We will hold a founder roundtable discussion to debrief experiences, provide recommendations, and deep-dive on the challenges diverse founders face. At the final founders showcase, Chloe Capital will announce the initial companies that will receive a capital investment from us. Once again, founders will be able to network with investors and funders.

Chloe Capital has made a personal commitment to invest a minimum of $300,000 into at least 3 companies from the cohort, which will be announced at the end of the Founder Showcase. Each founder will also receive free and discounted business services, mentorship and connections to Chloe Capital’s global network of investors. On average, participants in a Chloe Capital program go on to raise $2,000,000.

Frequently Asked Questions

At least one founder is required to live within the 5 boroughs of NYC.  However, Chloe Capital invests nationally, so anyone can apply for our other funding opportunities outside of this accelerator.

Applicants need to apply to each program individually to be considered for each. Chloe Capital will partner with NYCEDC to make final decisions regarding the cohort for each partner organization. Founders will not get to choose a specific partner if they apply to multiple programs.

For The Chloe Capital program, we will make investments, not grants, in at least 3 companies from our cohort, with check sizes of at least $100K.

Terms vary depending on what round the startups have open and whether there’s a lead investor in place for the round. If we lead the round, we typically use convertible notes.

Chloe Capital’s program will be mostly virtual, with three, mandatory in-person days for workshops, networking, and/or investment pitches. There will be a required program in March, April and May and all three will take place in NYC.

A startup does not need to be incorporated – however, each operator is supporting companies at different stages – so encourage you to find the one that meets the stage of your business.

No, any founder can apply.
